WEDDING // HANNAH & JOEY

Updated: Oct 15, 2021

The global pandemic strikes again. But again, our couple remained unwavering in the face of adversity. Originally planning a destination wedding at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO, Hannah and Joey were forced to alter those plans when travel restrictions prevented them, their families, and their guests from getting to their destination.

With this, they joined the ever-growing list of global pandemic improvised planning experts including Becca & Darnell & Amanda & Adam.

Mountains were a must for Hannah and Joey as avid adventurers. So, they maintained their positive attitudes and planned a road trip to North Carolina instead. They truly made the most of the circumstances and created a once-in-a-lifetime experience they will remember forever! They'll also remember forever because they have a video which you can watch here:

The Venue //

Hannah and Joey decided on a small town in North Carolina called Laurel Springs. It couldn't have been more perfect for a weekend wedding getaway. The bride and her bridesmaids stayed on a house built on the side of a mountain with a gorgeous view. The groom and groomsmen stayed in a wide-open 3 story house complete with a pond, hot tub and pool table!

First, they had to completely change states, but to make things even more complicated, they had to switch locations ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING. Since I've never seen Joey stressed in my life, he played it cool and found an arguably better location on this mountainside overlook.

The Time Where the Veil Almost Flew off the Side of the Mountain //

Okay, maybe I broke a few headline rules that I learned in college. But seriously. The wind blew Hannah's veil off her head, and it definitely would've flown off the side of the overlook down the mountain if the maid of honor didn't react so quickly.

Wind is a legitimate concern for really any outdoor wedding, but specifically mountain weddings and beach weddings with little tree coverage. You can't always know exactly what the weather will be longer than 10 days out - even then it changes drastically day by day. If you know it's going to be extra windy, brainstorm ways to secure things that can be easily swept away.

Stay tuned //
